CONJOINT ANALYSIS | GRADUATE PROJECT
Project Goal:
To understand consumer preferences and demand factors for a mock snack subscription service (“SnackPassport”) by analyzing survey data. Outcomes include insights to inform pricing, snack selection, subscription features (free trial vs paid, delivery preferences), target segments by age/gender/cuisine preferences, etc.
Solution:
-
Designed a survey and collected raw data (demographics, preferences, etc.).
-
Cleaned & processed the data (“Raw” to “Clean”). Dealt with missing data, standardized responses.
-
Analyzed overall interest in key features (free trial, delivery method, purchase method).
-
Conducted cross-tab analyses (e.g. age vs cuisine, subscription interest by age/gender).
-
Performed conjoint analysis to assess trade-offs consumers make between different subscription attributes (price, snack type diversity, delivery frequency, trial period, etc.).
Results:
-
89% of respondents who said they are interested in a free trial vs those who are not.
-
Most prefer in-store purchases (60%) but home delivery (60%) as the fulfillment method.
-
Women favor Indian/Mexican, men lean Mexican/Indian; younger groups skew Asian/Latin, older groups lean Mediterranean/Indian.
-
The best offer is the monthly Variety Pack, which includes approximately 7 snacks for around $15. This pack strikes a perfect balance between variety, price, and flexibility.
Key Learning:
-
Identify key segments (demographics) most likely to adopt the subscription.
-
Recommend product/pricing structure: free trial might help adoption, but how many people prefer which delivery method, etc.
-
Suggest marketing messaging tailored by age/gender or cuisine preferences.
-
Provide decisions about snack mix and diversity, delivery frequency that align with most preferred combinations.
